The new British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Josephine Gauld has shared her thoughts on her recent visits to Bo, Kenema and Makeni in Sierra Leone.
Speaking on AYV’s Wake Up Sierra Leone morning Programme yesterday, 31st October, 2024, Her Excellency Gauld said: “I was keen to get out and see a little bit more of Sierra Leone as early as I could, so it was nice to meet the different authorities; we met some of the Paramount Chiefs, some of the regional ministers and some of the mayors; it was a good opportunity to hear about what was happening in all the different cities”.
She was appointed British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone in succession to Her Excellency Lisa Chesney, who was transferred to another Diplomatic Service appointment.
Her Excellency Gauld took up her appointment during September 2024.
“I visit some of the electricity projects, hospitals we’ve been supporting, and a special care baby unit, like the one at Kenema Hospital. I had the chance to meet some of the mothers, learn where they’re traveling from, and hear how they feel about having that kind of facility in their community”. British High Commissioner Her Excellency Josephine Gauld said.
